I got to chat with Tammany a little tonight. She is six hours ahead of us, so it was very late for her. She said they are now in Portland and it’s a desolate port. Very few people come out in the streets. Could be a place where much love is needed.
She is thinking college when she gets home. I guess there is a college in SC that she’s looking into. We’ll have to see. She could change her mind 10 times before she actually decides.

I love computers. Really! I love all the tech stuff. Not sure why, but I do. I’ve dabbled a little in html…but only enough to make me dangerous. Now I’m intrigued by Perl. But when I tried to update my blog to something that had a few more bells and whistles, I couldn’t get the link to work. I tried many different things, but nothing helped. You know how tech assistants will help you by suggesting you check the cords and plugs? Make sure everything is plugged in? Sounds pretty simplistic, but it must have happened enough times that they felt it was something they needed to ask. Well, as it turned out…my problem was a typo in my link. Go figure. So…(fingers crossed) I should have it all up and running now.
The two middle kids left for Mexico last night. I miss them already. They will be gone for ten days. I’m sure they’ll have lots to share and lives will be changed. How could they not? What a wonderful opportunity to help those who may not have as much as we do? They will be working alongside Casas Por Christo (Houses for Christ) to build three houses for families who are living in shacks. Last time Gabbi texted me, they were just arriving in Colorado and that was about 9:30am CT. When I get pictures and updates, I’ll share them here.

I went to an event last night that has been a part of “Freedom Festival” activities for at least three years and probably more…the balloon glow. Balloonist from the area set up in a wide open area and allow the public to come and watch them fill with air. They are tethered to the ground and close together. Then as the sun sets, the balloons “glow” as the flames illuminate the colors from the inside out. It’s rather beautiful and this year they presented these gorgeous balloons on the lawn of a mansion. It was a perfect night for taking, what I hope to be, some spectacular photos. Of course, with my limited knowledge of photography and my non-digital camera, it’s difficult to say how my efforts will pay off this time.
PS: I got the film developed. Here are three photos from that night.

Today was certainly a milestone for our family. Gabrielle got her driver’s license! My oldest, Tammany, left to be a missionary before she was able to get hers, so Gabbi is the first.

Hello All!
With the changes I’ve made to my website, I also decided to add a blog. I’ve never kept up with one before but always enjoyed reading others’. So, this is the first of many entries into the mind of Ann. That can be a strange and scary place at times since I am constantly learning and growing, failing and succeeding, laughing and crying, but you are more than welcome to keep coming back for more.
